A corresponding pair of earrings—one with the markings for heaven and the other for earth.

This collection is inspired by Ba Gua (Eight Trigrams), an early system of notation in Chinese history that consists of eight symbols created from the arrangement of 2 straight lines, either solid — or broken - - .

These lines, respectively corresponding to the positive (Yang) and negative (Yin) principles of the universe, were combined to create trigrams to represent phenomena of the universe: heaven, earth, water, fire, river, mountain, wind and thunder.

Each of our pieces from this collection draws directly from the arrangement of these trigrams and the special pairings Yin and Yang.

Red is the color of luck, joy and happiness. It is considered an auspicious color associated with warmth and life, and is believed to ward off evil spirits.
